The Dodge City Town Company was formed on August 15, 1872.

DODGE CITY
Was first settled in 1872, and contains at present about 600 inhabitants. It is located on the Arkansas river, and the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe R. R., in the northwestern part of Ford county, of which it is the county seat, 369 miles from Topeka. It contains a Union church and district school, and ships cattle and buffalo hides. Stage to Camp Supply, Ind. Ter., and Fort Elliott, Texas, semi-weekly. Telegraph, Western Union. Express, Adams. Daily mail. Herman J. Fringer, postmaster.
